Principal's Message

Dear McKinley Families, 

We are off to a fantastic start to the scool year! During August, our students are learning what it means to SOAR every day by being Safe, Organized, Accountable, and Respectful in every area of our campus. Throughout the first few weeks of school, teachers and staff are intentionally teaching, modeling, and practicing routines that create a positive learning environment. Students are learning how to follow classroom and school expectations, move safely throughout campus, care for school materials and personal belongings, and make responsible choices during recess, lunch, and other shared spaces.
 

Building Responsible Digital Citizens: Technology is an important part of learning, and we are helping students become safe and responsible digital citizens. Families play an important role in reinforcing these skills at home by talking with their child about online activities, setting expectations for appropriate technology and social media use, encouraging kindness and respect in digital interactions, and reminding students to keep personal information and passwords private.

Setting Students Up for Success: Small daily routines can make a big difference in your child’s success at school. Families can help by establishing consistent bedtimes, ensuring students eat a healthy breakfast, encouraging a positive attitude and perseverance, keeping electronics out of the bedroom at night, completing annual online registration, and staying connected through ParentSquare for important school updates.

¡Hemos comenzado el año escolar de manera fantástica! Durante agosto, nuestros estudiantes están aprendiendo lo que significa SOAR (volar) cada día, siendo Seguros, Organizados, Responsables y Respetuosos en cada área de nuestra escuela. Durante las primeras semanas, maestros y personal enseñan, modelan y practican intencionalmente rutinas que crean un ambiente positivo de aprendizaje. Los estudiantes aprenden a seguir las expectativas del salón y la escuela, moverse con seguridad por la escuela, cuidar los materiales escolares y sus pertenencias personales, y tomar decisiones responsables durante el recreo, el almuerzo y otros espacios compartidos.

Formando ciudadanos digitales responsables: La tecnología es una parte importante del aprendizaje, y estamos ayudando a los estudiantes a ser ciudadanos digitales seguros y responsables. Las familias juegan un papel importante al reforzar estas habilidades en casa, hablando con sus hijos sobre sus actividades en línea, estableciendo expectativas para el uso apropiado de la tecnología y redes sociales, fomentando la amabilidad y el respeto en las interacciones digitales, y recordándoles mantener privada su información personal y contraseñas.

Preparando a los estudiantes para el éxito: Pequeñas rutinas diarias pueden marcar una gran diferencia en el éxito de su hijo(a).
